Cowboys & Aliens is an 2011 American science fiction Western/action film starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Olivia Wilde. The film, directed by Jon Favreau, is based on the 2006 graphic novel of the same name created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, which in turn was an expansion of a Far Side comic by Gary Larson.

Did It Suck Review: This is by far an old west movie with more Cow than Alien.  This was not a horrible film only that it felt like it could have been a “made for TV movie”.  Also,  Joss Whedon might have been some help on this one, when considering his epic Firefly TV series.  What I did enjoy about this movie was it had pretty good representation of the Old West and the story side was really good until the aliens got thrown in to the mix.  It was a good try but I’m going to have to say… Wait For The DVD.

Just because you’re a small fry doesn’t mean you have a small heart.

Captain America: The First Avenger is a 2011 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Captain America.  It is the fifth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  The film was directed by Joe Johnston, written byChristopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, Neal McDonough, Derek Luke, and Stanley Tucci.  The film tells the story of Steve Rogers, a sickly man from Brooklyn who is transformed into super soldier Captain America to help the war effort. However, Captain America must stop Red Skull, Adolf Hitler’s ruthless head of weaponry and leader of a terrorist organization, who intends to use a mysterious tesseract energy-source for world domination.

Did it Suck Review: An excellent film right from the start.  This movie is very well directed; it has an easy to follow story line with enjoyable characters through out.  Most of the action is close to the end of the film and well worth the wait.  This is a well rounded movie that is put together nicely.  I enjoyed this film a lot and I’m happy to say that it is Worth a Ticket.

When you have big robots helping you defend your planet, it’s best not to keep them in the dark about things.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon (also known as Transformers 3) is a 2011 science fiction/action film, part of the Transformers film series, directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg.

Did It Suck? I’m am so glad that this movie didn’t suck.  I felt that Transformers 3 was better then #2 in a few different ways.  What I noticed first off is that the CGI was directed much better then before, including, adding in some slow motion effects and keeping things less shaky.  The other important aspect of this film was it felt like they thought the story out and didn’t try to rush the movie.  The only two things that really disappointed me was, no Megan Fox and not having a longer roll for Ken Jeong.  I did see this movie in 3D, but, didn’t think that it was worth the extra cost.  Worth A Ticket.

Green Lantern is a 2011 superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, with Martin Campbell directing a script by Greg Berlanti and comic book writers Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim, which was subsequently rewritten by Michael Goldenberg.

Did It Suck? Cutting straight to the point, this was a disappointing movie.  It wasn’t a horrible movie, just that it was lacking in many areas, it had all the firework flash with no bang.  I still enjoyed the film but I felt that the movie was rushed, the story had no meat and there was so little background with characters it was hard to make a connection with any of them.  Seeing this movie in 3D is not worth price, and it’s just bearly worth a regular ticket so, Wait For The DVD.

Sometimes it’s hard to choose a side when you see the best of both sides

X-Men: First Class takes you back to the beginnings of Charles and Eric’s friendship and where mutants start to come out of the wood-work.  Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr (James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender), had somewhat normal lives, Pre Professor X and Magneto.  Charles and Eric worked together to help other mutants find their place among the rest of the world.  Charles and Eric’s close friendship starts to become strained when they discover that they have different ideas on the coexistence of mutants and humans.

Did It Suck? Lots of talk and little action in this movie but it was done well.  Having common knowledge of the X-men is a must if you are going to enjoy this film.  The films focal point surrounds the lives and friendship of Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr (James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender) before they became Professor X and Magneto.  The movie already had a solid script to go on being a well published comic.  What I was interested to see was how well the actors took to their characters.  I am happy to report that this was a fantastic X-man movie, and arguably, probably the best of the series.  If your not an X-man fan then this movie is not for you.  As much as I liked this movie, and felt I got my monies worth, I have to say Wait For the DVD.  There is nothing you will miss seeing it at home.

Next time you here thunder, look up, it might be Thor coming to visit.

Thor is a 2011 American superhero film based on the comic book character of the same name published by Marvel Comics. It is the fourth film released as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film was directed by Kenneth Branagh, written by Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz and Don Payne, and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins and Stellan Skarsgård. The film tells the story of Thor, a god who is exiled from his homeland of Asgard to Earth. While there, he builds a relationship with scientist Jane Foster.  However, Thor must stop his brother Loki, who intends to become the new king of Asgard.

Did It Suck? I was hopping for more from this film seeing that it is another entry point movie for the upcoming Avengers 2012 movie.  Overall I did enjoy the film there were good special effects and some funny enjoyable scenes with Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson (Iron Man 2).  It is a story driven film with only some short action sequences.  If you do see this in the theater, please don’t pay to see this in 3D like I did.  This was not a true 3D film as the movie was converted into 3D after production as opposed to filmed in 3D.   Wait For The DVD.

There’s a whole new world to be discovered and explored, the only limit is set by the user.

Tron: Legacy is a 2010 American science fiction film produced by Walt Disney Pictures.  It is a sequel to the 1982 film Tron.  Joseph Kosinski makes his feature film directorial debut with Tron: Legacy, while the previous film’s director, Steven Lisberger, returns as a producer. Jeff Bridges reprises his roles as Kevin Flynn and Clu, while Bruce Boxleitner reprises his roles as Alan Bradley and Tron. Garrett Hedlund portrays Flynn’s now-adult son, Sam. The other cast members include Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett, and Michael Sheen.

Did It Suck? What made me happy to see in this sequel is that they kept the same look and feel as the original Tron.  Not to say that they didn’t upgrade the overall imagery,  just that they didn’t over d0 it, making the world of Tron look only slightly better.  What was disappointing was the story and the 3D effects.  The story was a little flat and I was hoping for more action.  The action bits were finished just as fast as they started leaving you wanting more out of each scene.  This movie was filmed for 3D and graphically was good, however, they made no real effort to capitalize on what could have been the best 3D movie ever.  Overall I was quite happy with the movie and the extra cost for the 3D was still Worth a Ticket. The only question that still remains for me is … What did they spend that $170 million budget on?

Never forget your worth or the place that made you who you are.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is a 2010 3D fantasy-adventure film based on The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the third published novel in C. S. Lewis‘s epic fantasy series The Chronicles of Narnia. It is the third installment in The Chronicles of Narnia film series from Walden Media, the first in the series to be distributed by 20th Century Fox and the first one to be released in Digital 3D.

Set a year after the events of the second film, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, the two younger Pevensies Edmund (Skandar Keynes) and Lucy (Georgie Henley) are transported back to Narnia along with their cousin Eustace Scrubb (Will Poulter). They join the new King of Narnia, Caspian (Ben Barnes) in his quest to rescue seven lost lords to save Narnia from a corrupting evil that resides on a dark island. Each character is tested as they journey to the home of the great lion Aslan at the far ends of the world.

Did It Suck? I enjoyed this movie a little better then the second movie, but as expected, it fails in comparison to the first film.  A much better performance all around by everyone, the characters were solid and the acting was better in this movie.  For one particular actor I need to say, brilliant  job Mr. Will Poulter, I enjoyed your roll the best.  The film making for this adventure was a little slow and I found myself thinking in a British accent…  ”Come’on, lets get a move on, I haven’t got all day”.  Over all I really enjoyed this movie, I felt the entertainment value wasn’t too bad, although, I would have rather paid less to see it in 2D.  In my opinion, even though the 3D was good,  the film is not worth paying the extra coin to see it in 3D.  Unless you really liked the first two movies, Wait For The DVD.

Revenge is a serious matter in the hands of a fearless man

Faster is a 2010 American action film directed by George Tillman, Jr. and written by brothers Tony Gayton and Joe Gayton. It stars Dwayne Johnson, Billy Bob Thornton, Carla Gugino, Moon Bloodgood, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Maggie Grace.

Did It Suck? For anyone looking for a plain old, easy to follow action flick, Faster has it covered.  Nothing exciting or extra ordinary in this film, just some hard hitting action with a simple story that keeps you entertained right to the end.  The only thing I can really complain about in this movie is the typical “knew that was going to happen’ ending.  Otherwise a good action flick.  Though this movie delivered what it was supposed to, and I felt I got my monies worth, the Big Screen is not needed to enjoy this one.  Wait For a The DVD unless your hard up for some action and need a fix.

Aliens are cleaning house and sucking-up people like big vacuums

Skyline is a 2010 American alien invasion science fiction film directed and produced by the Brothers Strause. The film was released on November 12, 2010. It stars Eric Balfour, Scottie Thompson, Donald Faison and David Zayas.^[4] The Brothers Strause assert that Skyline is the first film in a series, which will include at least one other film.

Plot: The movie starts off quickly showing bright blue lights descend from the sky.  Anyone who looks at them is immediately entranced, followed by their eyes going opaque and their blood seemingly burning. After enough exposure, they fly towards the light as if drawn by some unnatural force. [more here]

Did It Suck? Good special effects and a semi-fast paced flow didn’t help this sorry excuse for a sci-fi movie.  The film had a really nice start, but once the action began, I was still waiting for the move to get going.  It was like watching a race and the story was a car that never gets out of first gear.  I will be shocked if a second movie makes it to the big screen. Don’t Bother with this one,  the previews were more entertaining.
