Did It Suck Review: 3.5 Stars Time: 1hr 36min‎‎ Rated: G‎‎

Misguided brain power is a terrible thing to waist

Megamind is a 2010 animated superhero comedy film produced by DreamWorks Animation and Red Hour Productions, and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film was released in Digital 3D, and 2D on November 5, 2010. It features the voices of Will Ferrell, Tina Fey,Jonah Hill, David Cross and Brad Pitt. The film is directed by Tom McGrath.

Plot: Megamind (Will Ferrell) is a super-intelligent alien who—at the age of eight days old—is sent to Earth by his parents as his home planet is destroyed by a black hole. However, he lands in The Prison for the Criminally Gifted, thanks to another infant alien similarly sent from a different planet who eventually becomes a superhero known as Metro Man (Brad Pitt), defender of the fictional Metro City.

Did It Suck? A generally good paced film with some expected slow parts that children under 9 may lose interest. There is a lot of fast comedic dialog that will go right over the heads of kids but will cause some good chuckles from the adult viewers. The cast was well chosen and thought through as they are reflected nicely through the characters. Although the 3D was good, and filmed for it, I wouldn’t spend the extra cash unless you have/want to. Over all the movie was quite good and well Worth A Ticket. However, though the movie is worth seeing on the Big Screen, it really could have been done much better. The Incredibles is still number one in my book.

Did It Suck Review: 4 Stars Time: 1hr 30min‎‎ Rated: G

Legends take flight in this Good Vs Evil bird tail.

Plot: Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole is a 2010 computer-animated fantasy film loosely based on the first three books (The Capture, The Journey, and The Rescue) of the seriesGuardians of Ga’Hoole by Kathryn Lasky. Zack Snyder directed the film, with Jim Sturgess, Geoffrey Rush, Ryan Kwanten, Emily Barclay, Anthony LaPaglia, and David Wenham voicing the characters.

Did It Suck? This is one movie I will be adding to my collection. A beautifully animated film with well directed cinematography. Some of the best animation comes from the camera angles during the flight scenes and slow motion effects. The Story moves along at a reasonable pace although some kids under 7 might get bored through some scenes. I really would have liked the film to have gone more in depth with the story, but, at 1.5 hrs they did a good job. The 3D version of the film is quite good and worth paying a little more for it, however, if your on a family outing you might want to settle for the regular Big Screen version. Worth a Ticket.

It is the first CGI feature produced by Universal, in association with its Illumination Entertainment division. It was entirely animated in the French studio Mac Guff in Paris, France.

Plot: This is a story is of a supervillain named Gru who plans to use three orphan girls as pawns for a grand scheme, only to find that their innocent love is profoundly changing him.
Did It Suck? I really enjoyed this movie once it got going. The little yellow dudes added the goofy humor that kids love which also makes the movie more enjoyable for them. The film has some funny unexpected scenes, which I personally like to see in a comedy, and the movie has a good balanced pace to it. There is a few weak areas in the story and the 3D was average so I would recommend seeing it in 2D and save your money. Overall this is a really good film, however, i’m leaning slightly to Wait For The DVD. There is nothing the Big Screen adds to this movie that you would miss watching on a laptop.

It’s a deal of a life time for Shrek and he’s going to take a trip back to when an Ogre can be an Ogre. Shrek Forever After casting voices include: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and Antonio Banderas

Plot: After challenging an evil dragon, rescuing a beautiful princess and saving your in—laws’ kingdom, what’s an ogre to do? Well, if you’re Shrek, you suddenly wind up a domesticated family man… (more here)

Did It Suck? Not my favorite Shrek by far. Shrek 4 does have some good laughs as to be expected, however, being the last movie in the series I was hoping for a better send-off. This is a good family movie and most Shrek fans will want to see this film. This movie in 3D is nothing special and ads nothing more than the price of the ticket. Wait For The DVD.

Saddle up for a fantastic ride that will take you to new heights in How to Train Your Dragon. Voice Cast: Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill, and America Ferrera.
Plot: On a small island called Berk lives a community of Vikings who’s occupational hazard happens to be fighting dragons. For one teenage Viking, named Hiccup, fighting dragons doesn’t come naturally so he finds a different way to deal with them. Hiccup soon realizes everything he’s ever known about dragons has been wrong.

Did It Suck? This was a very enjoyable film to watch; the animation, the story, and the characters all fit together beautifully. The opening of this movie was quite good. It gives you a quick overview of everything and everyone that’s involved in the adventure that is about to unfold. The film quickly moves into the main plot while balancing out the surrounding story giving you a well rounded film. As with most of the new 3D movies that come out you have a viewing choice of 2D or 3D. However this movie was really good in 3D and worth paying a little more for. I am quite happy to say this one is well Worth a Ticket

Review: 2.5 Stars

Not the best 3D movie I’ve seen and it really didn’t live up to a Disney film standard. Jim Carrey stared as the main character in this animated version of A Christmas Carol.

This film is targeted towards kids more than adults and the 3D was downplayed as it could have been much better. The best parts of this film were already depicted in the previews giving the illusion of a much better film. Aside from the 3D, what attracted me to this movie was the fact that Jim was staring; however, I feel that he didn’t live up to my personal expectations of a funny Carrey movie. It seemed as though his personality was held back by either the director, or maybe it was just a lack of effort on his part.

Final thoughts: Half the attraction to this movie was that fact it was in 3D; failing at even that aspect, I wouldn’t consider renting this one. However, kids will undoubtedly enjoy watching this movie

Review: 3.5 Stars

Astro Boy is based off a cartoon TV series that still has a cult following today. Growing up I used to watch Astro Boy quite often and I really appreciated how this movie pretty much kept to the origin of how Astro came to be.

Astro is a robot that was created by a brilliant scientist, (Dr. Tenma), after his son was killed in a terrible accident. He created Astro to look and act like his late son Tobio (Toby), and even went as far as to program him with his sons memories.

The movie animation is full of soft bright colours that kids will find attractive and fun, I just sat back with a smile to watch an old childhood memory fly across the silver screen. Fans of Astro boy should be happy with this film, along with kids under 12, as this movie is really geared for a younger audience. I for one can’t wait for Blu-ray which leaves me to my final thoughts … Unless your an Astro boy fan or a kid under 12 etc; wait for the DVD.

Review: 3.5 Stars

ok, yes, I know this is a late review, but time and money are not always on the side of us movie critics, so sue me.

I finally got a chance to see this movie, and I brought 3 of my 4 kids (aged 8, 10, and 12) to the movie. This movie was fun. For adults, there were parts of the movie that are just plain corny, but you have to remember that this movie designed for kids, and MY kids really enjoyed this movie and had a great time.

Since this review is late, you may have already elected to see this movie with your family. If you haven’t, you need to go see this with your kids before it leaves! GO WATCH IT!.

Review: 4 Stars

Great movie from the start, all the characters intrigued me with all their unique abilities without having to have an in depth story behind them. They were what they were, each designed with a different talent that never needed to be explained.

It felt like each scene was planed and thought out in great detail with an artistic view. Overall the story was good, however, I was a little disappointing in the ending and how short the film was. At 1Hr 20Min .. It left me wanting more, but in a good way.

For all those who love animation and appreciate the dynamics of these types of film, this is a must see in the theatre.

Also A good renter for those of you who are not sure about seeing an animated film.
