Plot: Knight and Day; a 2010 action comedy film starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. The film, directed by James Mangold, is Cruise and Diaz’s second on-screen collaboration following the 2001 film Vanilla Sky. Knight and Day follows the adventures of Roy Miller (Tom Cruise) – whose real surname is Knight – and June Havens (Cameron Diaz). After literally bumping into Miller twice at the airport and having some light conversation, June is about to take-off on an unplanned adventure. -more here

Did It Suck? This was a really good fun-tastic movie. I was quite surprised at how much I liked this film. It moves along quickly and never gets dull. Excellent chemistry between Cruse and Diaz as they played their roles well. I am not a huge Tom Cruse fan but I did like him in this movie. There are a few parts in the film that I didn’t particularly like; I’ll only mention one, the ending, not that it was really bad only that it ended quickly and could have been done a little better. Overall I felt I got my moneys worth and was Worth a Ticket.

Review: 2.0 Rated: PG

Some best friends stay friends forever and these group of guys are no exception.

Plot: Grown Ups is a 2010 American comedy film starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider. Rock, Schneider, Spade and Sandler (as well as co-star Tim Meadows) all joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in the 1990-91 season; other actors Colin Quinn, Maya Rudolph, and Norm MacDonald have also been SNL cast members. Sandler and Fred Wolf wrote the script andDennis Dugan directed. The film was produced by Sandler’s production company Happy Madison and was distributed by Columbia Pictures. Our story starts when the group of friends elementary school basketball coach passes away. The five childhood friends get together and spend the Fourth of July weekend together with each others families.

Did It Suck? I can’t say enough how disappointing this movie was. Even with a full cast of favorite comedy stars this movie drowns in the lake it was filmed beside. To quote ChrisVognar “Ever been around a group of friends who crack each other up while you stand to the side and scratch your head?” The movie does have some good laughs but not enough to spend it on a ticket. I’m going to stick my neck out and say Wait For The DVD because this movie sucked and boarders on Don’t Bother.

Review: 4 Stars Rated: PG

Covering how the A-team originally met, the mission that got them arrested, their escape from prison, and subsequent attempt to clear their names this movie has it all. The cast includes Liam Neeson (Hannibal), Bradley Cooper (Face), Quinton Jackson (B.A.) and Sharlto Copley (Murdock).

Plot: The movie starts a few years before the fateful mission that saw the team imprisoned for a crime they did not commit, and shows how they came to be The A-Team. Following a mission into Baghdad (not Vietnam, the times they have a-changed) they are framed for a theft, imprisoned, escape, and then try to track down the people that framed them to earn their freedom. This is the essence of the original series and is captured well in the movie.

Did It Suck? From start to finish the movie doesn’t let you down, and has bangs, booms, thrills, spills, and even a whole lot of laughs. I had not expected the movie to contain humour at all, but it was there throughout, and blended in perfectly with the action. Each of the main cast members played their parts well and were spot on in filling the roles of Hannibal, Face, B.A., and Murdock. I can’t think of anything really negative to say about this movie, which is pretty odd, usually something detracts, but this one was just great. The only real different between this movie and the series; people die! In my opinion, this is definitely Worth a Ticket to see the action on the big screen.

Sometimes the man you’ve been waiting for to step into your life can make things more complicated then your parents.

Plot: Killers is a 2010 action comedy film starring Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Tom Selleck, and Catherine O’Hara. After a break-up with a spontaneous boyfriend, an overly cautious Jen Kornfeldt (Katherine Heigl) travels to Nice France with her parents (Tom Selleck, and Catherine O’Hara) where she meets Spencer (Ashton Kutcher). Spencer, after meeting Jen, decides to leave his job as a hired killer for a secret government agency. Three years later Spencer’s old boss contacts him, as only spy’s do, and then bullets start to fly.

Did It Suck? Not a great movie but not horrible either. The chemistry between Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher was more-less, for a lack of a better word, okay. Though it was still good enough to make me smile or chuckle throughout the movie. By far this is a date movie and both guys and girls will probably like it as just that. It’s a cute and funny movie even though the story is ridiculous and has endless holes and things just happen without regard to why. Over all I liked this movie because it was fun and I also didn’t feel too bad paying for the ticket, however, as I mentioned this is primarily a date movie so for the rest; Wait For The DVD.

Review: 3.5 Stars Rated: 18-A

The music industry is slow but one music company has an idea to get them back on track. Get Him to the Greek is a fun ride along side a rock stars trip from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’

Plot: Get Him to the Greek is a 2010 American comedy film written and directed by Nicholas Stoller and starring Jonah Hill and Russell Brand. Get Him to the Greek is a spin-off sequel of Stoller’s 2008 film Forgetting Sarah Marshall, reuniting director Stoller with stars Hill and Brand. Brand reprises his role as character Aldous Snow from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, while Hill plays an entirely new character. The film also stars Elisabeth Moss, Rose Byrne, and Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) is a driven, idealistic young college graduate who works as an intern at Pinnacle Records. He has been given a big assignment and it is turning out to be a little more than what Aaron anticipated.

Did It Suck? What I liked the most about the movie was the concept or premise of the comedy. Sometimes the best person to direct a film is the writer; case in point. The comedy in this movie is neatly wrapped around the the story and the film doesn’t need to try hard to get a laugh. This was a funny movie but I will give this small warning; the humor is directed around a lot of drinking, drugs, sex, and f-bomb conversations. Excellent acting by both Jonah Hill and Russell Brand who had great chemistry together and pulled off a fun film to watch. Worth A Ticket.

Review: 2.5 Stars Rated: 14-A

Revenge in the hands of MacGruber is a nasty story and if you’re the bad guy, I’d be worried.

MacGruber is a recurring sketch on the NBC television series Saturday Night Live, first appearing on the show in January 2007. .. (more here)
The cast includes: Will Forte, Val Kilmer, Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph.

Plot: Will Forte brings Saturday Night Live’s clueless soldier of fortune to the big screen in the action comedy MacGruber. In the 10 years since his fiancée was killed, special op MacGruber has sworn off a life of fighting crime with his bare hands. But when he learns that his country needs him to find a nuclear warhead that’s been stolen by his sworn enemy, Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer), MacGruber figures he’s the only one tough enough for the job. more here

Did It Suck? I’m not going to make this a long review because it’s really not worth my time. MacGruber has a few genuinely funny parts, but for the most part it pushed the toilet humor envelope too far in trying to get a laugh. I found myself laughing at the stupidity rather than laughing because it was supposed to be funny. Don’t get me wrong, far-fetched reality and toilet humor comedies have their place, but MacGruber just doesn’t have my vote as a good comedy. MacGruber’s Saturday Night Live fans will probably want to see this film, however I encourage you to Wait For The DVD.

Review: 4 Stars Rated: PG

Lock and load people. The Losers hit fast and hard and if your the target, your already dead.
A film adaptation of Vertigo and DC Comics‘ comic book series of the same name. Directed by Sylvain White, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana and Chris Evans. (more here)

Plot: An elite Special Forces unit sent to the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. But the team—Clay, Jensen, Roque, Pooch and Cougar—soon find that they have become the target of a deadly double cross, instigated from the inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max.

Did It Suck? A very fun action movie that never lets up. Lots of action and explosions in this film; it’s one of those movies that you can sit back and watch with out any mental strain or yawning waiting for the good part. The movie moves along from one scene to the next while getting to know the characters without slowing the pace down. The story line is simple and easy to follow, it has a touch of comedy thrown in and some good-old bantering between the group of colleges. Most of the action sequence’s are up close and in your face, but nothing that impressive, however, it gets the job done because this movie doesn’t just rely on the action. Although there’s not much your going to miss if watch this on a smaller screen, and the movie seems a little low budget, I still feel I got my money’s worth on this ride so I’m going to say … Mostly Worth a Ticket.

Look-out bad guys there’s a new hero in town and he’s nothing short of average. Kick-Ass is a superhero film based on the comic book of the same name by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr.
Plot: This is A story of an ordinary teenager, Dave Lizewski, who sets out to become a real-life superhero only to get caught up in a bigger fight and gets in way over his head. Will our fearless crime fighter be tossed into the cold streets never to be heard from again? Not this time; Kick-Ass is saved by none other than Big Daddy and Hit-Girl who have an agenda of their own…. kill the Bad guy who destroyed their lives.

Did It Suck? So watching the trailers I figured this is going to be some cheese-ball action comedy. Well after seeing this movie I was extremely shocked at how good this film was. This is not a kid’s movie by far, in fact, it’s quit the opposite. It has very harsh language and violent gore. The dynamics of this film are impressive and key to making this movie work the way it did. There is not much I didn’t like about this film, however, I could have done with a little less of the foul language from 12 year old Chloe Moretz (Hit-Girl). She drops the ‘C’ word among other colourful lines. Worth a Ticket.

Did It Suck? For mothers or expecting mothers and couples this movie has some purpose. The chemistry between Lopez and O’Loughlin is very good and the film does have some funny moments as expected, however, the story is very dry and lacks the ability to keep the audience entertained. This movie is quite forgettable so Don’t Bother even renting it.

Review: 2 Stars Rated: 14A

It takes a funeral to get some families together and this one is no exception. Death at a funeral is a remake of the 2007 British film of the same name and stars a huge cast including: Chris Rock, Columbus Short, Martin Lawrence, Regina Hall, Loretta Devine, Tracy Morgan, Danny Glover, and more.

Plot: The film revolves around the funeral held in the family’s home for Aaron and Ryan’s father. Aaron’s family seems to look down on him because his younger brother Ryan is a successful writer, which Aaron wants to be but he has other responsibilities, and has yet to have his novel published. Aaron needs help paying for the cost of the funeral and is upset with Ryan because he is apparently unable to help, and yet, can afford to pay for two first class tickets for him and his toothbrush. Ongoing problems and inner feuds among family members continue to arise at this mourning leaving you wondering what else could go wrong.

Did It Suck? There is not a whole lot to write on this movie because it’s just one of those films that makes you wish you could get back that hour and a half of your life you wasted. The film does have some good funny parts, including some over the top OMG moments that make you lol (laugh out loud), but the rest of the movie just drags. The movie fails bigger than its cast and I feel it’s really not worth watching. Don’t Bother seeing this movie . Move along, move along, nothing to see here.
