<h3><span style="color: #ffcc00;">Did It Suck</span> Review: 4.5 Stars     Time: 2hr 3min‎     Rated: 14-A‎‎</h3>
<p><strong>“This town (to-wn) is coming like a ghost town”, The Specials, 1981</strong></p>
<p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Plot: </strong></span> <em><strong>The Town</strong></em> is a 2010 thriller starring <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Affleck" target="_blank">Ben Affleck </a>(who also Directed), <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebecca_Hall" target="_blank">Rebecca Hall</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Hamm" target="_blank">Jon Hamm</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Renner" target="_blank">Jeremy Renner</a>.  It is set in Charlestown, a suburb of Boston, MA, from whence we are told most of America’s bank and armoured car robbers hail.  The movie tells the story of Doug MacRay (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Affleck" target="_blank">Affleck</a>) and his gang as they struggle through the murky underside of inner city life by robbing banks and holding up armoured cars.  Following a raid that doesn’t go quite to plan Doug follows Claire Keesey (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebecca_Hall" target="_blank">Hall</a>) who the gang had taken as a hostage, but released, to make sure she won’t be able to identify them.  They soon become lovers which makes things even more interesting with the FBI getting closer.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ffcc00;">Did It Suck?</span></strong> With most movies I know what I am getting into, but this one was different; I knew the basic premise but nothing more.  I have to admit at 2h 5m long I was also getting worried before it started in case it really sucked, but I needn’t have worried.  Instead of being a full on cops-and-robbers action movie there is a lot of depth to the two main robbers and it gives an insight into their lives and what lead them to be in the positions they are in.  We see the loyalty and bonds that close friendship through hard times can forge, and how the possibility of a new and better life can start to break those links.  It makes it clear how the actions we choose, cumulatively, affect not just ourselves but those around us.  At the climax we are shown how even a ‘gentleman’ robber will become a violent psychopath if pushed too far.</p>
<p>If you’ve seen the movie <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_(1995_film)" target="_blank">Heat (1995)</a> then you will almost certainly draw parallels between the two movies, although they are not identical, and if you liked Heat I am pretty sure you will like <strong><em>The Town</em></strong> also.  As to whether it is worth a ticket, I find myself, for the first time, on the fence.  <strong><em>I have no regrets at all about paying to see it</em></strong>, and it is a very good movie that was much better than I expected, but, the premise of this site is to let you know if the movie is worth seeing on the big screen.  I have to say that even though it is a great movie there is nothing you’ll miss by watching it on TV, so this gets a <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">Wait for the DVD</span></strong>, <strong><em><span style="color: #ffcc00;">but</span>, with the comment that this was <span style="color: #ffcc00;">not an easy decision</span>.</em></strong></p>

<div><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">Plot:</span></strong></span> <span style="font-family: sans-serif;"><em><strong>The American</strong></em> is a 2010 American thriller film directed by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anton_Corbijn" target="_blank">Anton Corbijn</a> and starring <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Clooney" target="_blank">George Clooney</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thekla_Reuten" target="_blank">Thekla Reuten</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violante_Placido" target="_blank">Violante Placido</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irina_Bj%C3%B6rklund" target="_blank">Irina Björklund</a>, and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paolo_Bonacelli" target="_blank">Paolo Bonacelli</a>. It is an adaptation of the 1990 novel <em><strong>A Very Private Gentleman</strong></em> by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Booth" target="_blank">Martin Booth</a>.</span> Alone among assassins, Jack (<span style="font-family: sans-serif;"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Clooney" target="_blank">George Clooney</a></span>) is a master craftsman. On the <span style="color: #ffcc00;"><strong>Did It Suck </strong></span>scale side of things I&#8217;m going to suggest <span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">Waiting For The DVD</span></strong></span>. This is because, other than the visual cinematography and story, there&#8217;s nothing but a slow and boring film for most movie goer&#8217;s.</p>

<h3>Review:     4 Stars     Rated PG</h3>
<p><strong>Putting Salt onto a wound really makes things&#8230;explode!</strong></p>
<div id="_mcePaste"><span style="font-family: sans-serif;"><em><strong><span style="font-style: normal;"><span style="color: #ff9900;">Plot:</span></span> Salt</strong></em> is a 2010 American action-thriller film directed by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phillip_Noyce" target="_blank">Phillip Noyce</a>, written by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Wimmer" target="_blank">Kurt Wimmer</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Helgeland" target="_blank">Brian Helgeland</a>, and starring <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelina_Jolie" target="_blank">Angelina Jolie</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liev_Schreiber" target="_blank">Liev Schreiber</a>, and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiwetel_Ejiofor" target="_blank">Chiwetel Ejiofor</a>. Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, who is accused of being a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleeper_agent" target="_blank">KGB sleeper agent</a>, and goes on the run to try to clear her name<br />
</span></div>
<div><span style="color: #ffcc00;"><strong><br />
Did It Suck? </strong> </span>Salt is pretty much a pure action movie and unlike many other movies it doesn’t try to be anything else.  We follow Evelyn Salt (<span style="font-family: sans-serif;"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelina_Jolie" target="_blank">Angelina Jolie</a></span>), a CIA agent being pursued by her colleagues Ted Winter (<span style="font-family: sans-serif;"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liev_Schreiber" target="_blank">Liev Schreiber</a></span>) and Peabody (<span style="font-family: sans-serif;"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiwetel_Ejiofor" target="_blank">Chiwetel Ejiofor</a></span>) after she is outed as a Russian agent by a possible defector.  The movie rocks along with chase after chase and hardly gives you chance to breathe between the action sequences.</div>
<div>This may be one of the best roles that Angelina has played; I may be in the minority here, but I’ve never been overly impressed with her acting before, but she really shone in this movie, playing her multi-faceted character superbly well.  There are only two other major characters in the movie, mentioned above, and their backup to her role was very strong making the entire movie much more enjoyable.  Some of the action sequences were definitely a little too ‘out there’ to be even vaguely plausible but they didn’t detract from the movie that much, and in most of the sequences where Angelina was taking down any number of guards you could believe it to be true.  I really liked the movie, it’s been a while since I saw an action movie as good as this, and it even managed to surprise me with a twist near the end.  I think this is worth seeing on the big screen and would rate it <span style="color: #ff9900;"><strong>Worth a Ticket</strong></span>, I was certainly not disappointed and would even consider seeing it again.</div>

<p>If you have no one left and nothing to loose, and if your Harry Brown, it doesn&#8217;t mater how old you are, you can still bring the storm.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ff9900;"><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">Plot:</span></strong></span> <em><strong>Harry Brown</strong></em> is a <a title="2009 in film" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_in_film">2009</a> British <a title="Vigilantes in popular culture" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vigilantes_in_popular_culture">vigilante</a> <a title="Crime film" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_film">crime</a> <a title="Thriller (genre)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thriller_(genre)">thriller</a> film directed by <a title="Daniel Barber (director)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Barber_(director)">Daniel Barber</a> and starring <a title="Michael Caine" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Caine">Michael Caine</a>, <a title="Emily Mortimer" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_Mortimer">Emily Mortimer</a>, <a title="Jack O'Connell (actor)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_O%27Connell_(actor)">Jack O&#8217;Connell</a>, and <a title="Liam Cunningham (actor)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liam_Cunningham_(actor)">Liam Cunningham<br />
</a> The story follows Harry Brown, a widowed Northern Ireland veteran living on an <a title="Elephant and Castle" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elephant_and_Castle">Elephant and Castle</a> housing estate that is rapidly descending into <a title="Youth crime" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youth_crime">youth crime</a>. Harry takes up violent methods to curb crime after a friend is murdered.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ffcc00;"><strong>Did It Suck?</strong></span> This is one of those movies that has had only a little publicity and most people will know very little about it.  Harry Brown is an impressive movie that digs deep into a lonely mans soul.  A terrific performance by Caine and well directed.  The movie is slow paced but always keeps you interested as to what is going on.  The violence in this film hits the realism side of  movie making and done for a reason.  I felt I got my money&#8217;s worth however the big screen brings nothing to the movie and could be watched at home without loosing any effect.  Most people will want to <span style="color: #ff9900;"><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">Wait For The DVD</span></strong></span>.  <a title="Michael Caine" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Caine">Michael Caine</a> fans will undoubtedly want to see this on the big screen.</p>

<h3>Review:     3.5 Stars     Rated:     R</h3>
<p>Good cops, bad cops, undercover cops, rookie cops, and dead cops.  Director <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antoine_Fuqua" target="_blank">Antoine Fuqua</a> shoots his way through the dark side of police work in Brooklyn&#8217;s Finest.  <strong>Starring:</strong> <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Gere" target="_blank">Richard Gere</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Cheadle" target="_blank">Don Cheadle</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethan_Hawke" target="_blank">Ethan Hawke</a>, and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wesley_Snipes" target="_blank">Wesley Snipes</a> (who, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BTW" target="_blank">BTW</a>,  is back after a 5 year break).</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">Plot:</span></strong> Three New York police officers take us into their lives as we see them struggle against the streets of Brooklyn.  Eddie (Gere) has seven days left until he retires; life and 22 years on the job has already killed him.  Tango (Cheadle) is an undercover cop who wants his life back because he&#8217;s forgetting who the enemy is.  Sal (Hawke) is a narcotics officer who needs money and is desperate to support his three kids and sick pregnant wife.  He risks his job and life trying to pocket drug money after police raids.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #bda55b;">Did It Suck?</span></strong> As expected this was a slow character driven movie.  In saying that, all the actors played their parts incredibly well and this made it easy to connect with each of the different characters.  The story line was a little loose, there wasn&#8217;t much of one until the end of  the movie where all three cops end up in the same location.  Not the best cop movie but over all it was a half decent film.  Final verdict &#8230;. Not worth spending full price at the theater, <span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Wait For The DVD</strong></span>.</p>

<h3>Review:     3.5 Stars     Rated:     14-A</h3>
<p>Boom, Pow, Wack, pew-pew-pew, look-out below, Bang-splat.  These are some good words to look for while watching this action packed movie.  Director <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Morel" target="_blank">Pierre_Morel</a>, (Taken, 2008), puts us on a fast moving ride inside the jobs of special agents, there here to save the world by stopping the bad guys.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;"><em>Plot:</em></span></strong> Reece (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Rhys_Meyers" target="_blank">Jonathan Rhys Meyers</a>) has a job with government intelligence but feels he isn&#8217;t working to his potential.  Then one day;  Reece&#8217;s hard work finally pays off as he gets a new assignment and is partnered up with Charlie Wax (<a onclick="(new Image()).src='/rg/castlist/position-1/images/b.gif?link=/name/nm0000237/';" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Travolta" target="_blank">John Travolta</a>).   Wax is much more then Reece anticipated as he struggles to get a grip on Wax&#8217;s methods.</p>
<p>This was a fun action packed movie that never let up.  Everything moved along quickly without any need of explanation to why or how.  Wax had all the right moves, all the right tools and knowhow to get the job done in each situation.  Two things I didn&#8217;t like;  the bad guys were stupid and real pushovers and  <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Rhys_Meyers" target="_blank">Jonathan Rhys Meyers</a>&#8216;s acting was a bit cheesy in some scenes.  An easy movie to follow with good action sequences finds <span style="color: #bda55b;"><strong>Did It Suck</strong></span> ranking it,  <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">Mostly Worth A Ticket</span></strong>.</p>
