Did It Suck Movie Review: 5 Stars Time: 1hr 50min‎‎ Rated: PG

The downfall of man will be his brilliant achievements

Rise of the Planet of the Apes: The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt . It is a reboot of the Planet of the Apes series that will act as a foundation with an origin story for a new film series. Its premise is similar to the fourth film in the original series, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972), but it is not a direct remake in that it does not fit into that series’ continuity.

Did It Suck Movie Review: I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this movie; what I didn’t expect was how good this movie turned out to be. This is a fantastic film right from the start. It is a well written story with characters you can connect with. For the most part this is an action-less film riding on the story and characters which keeps your interest right through to the end. You add all this up and you get a movie that pushes into the must see category, and with that said, this is definitely Worth A Ticket.

True friends are loyal to the end, sometimes, the end comes too quick.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is a 2011 fantasy film directed by David Yates and the second of two films based on the novel of the same name by J. K. Rowling. It is the eighth and the final instalment in the Harry Potter film series, written by Steve Kloves and produced by David Heyman, David Barron and Rowling. The story continues to follow Harry Potter’s quest to find and destroy Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes.

Did It Suck Review: The second part to the Deathly Hallows and last chapter of this fantastic series is what HP fans have been waiting for. As with part 1, this was an excellent movie. The overall flow and dynamics of this movie were good. I am sad and happy at the same time to see this series come to an end, and at the same time, glad to see that the last movie was not a let-down. Well Worth a Ticket.

Be kind to aliens; you have a much better chance they won’t eat you.

Super 8 is a 2011 American science fiction film written and directed by J. J. Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg. The film stars Joel Courtney, Elle Fanning, and Kyle Chandler … The film tells the story of a group of children who are filming their own Super 8 movie when a train derails, releasing a dangerous presence into their town.

Did It Suck Review: Leave it to Mr.Spielberg to start a film like it’s a ‘feel good’ kids story, then throw in a monster. The overall feel to the movie is set in a small town around the Late 70′s early 80′s. You get a nice overview of the peaceful town, era, and the kids characters from the start of the film. The train wreak was the highlight of the film, and it was fantastic. What I really liked was how little effort it took in getting to know the characters and emotionally connect with them; this is what made the movie as good as it was. I felt I got my moneys worth on this film, however, as good as this movie was, the train wreak was really the only thing worth seeing on the big screen, Wait For The DVD.

If you thought you had a horrible teacher in school, look again after seeing this.

Did It Suck? There is not a lot I need to say about this movie. Most critics will agree that this was a bad movie and failed to deliver, however, I look at this movie as a cute date movie. There are some really good parts in this film and I was more then just letting out a few chuckles. If you liked Legally Blonde and/or the Tooth Fairy you will probably like this movie. Over all, this movie is only worth renting, Wait For The DVD.

Don’t be silly, I couldn’t happen twice, could it?

The Hangover Part II: Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (Justin Bartha) travel to Thailand for Stu’s wedding. Then it happens, ♫ One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble ♫

Did It Suck? I wasn’t sure if the second movie could pull off the fun and hilarity of the the first film, but it did. I was quite surprised at how good this movie was for a sequel and I have to say that it was almost as good as the first Hangover. Sticking to the same formula as the 2009 Hangover, the sequel moves along quickly and keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what could possibly happen next. For me to justify paying to see a comedy on the Big Screen, it really has to be good. In saying that, this comedy gets my vote, Worth A Ticket.

It’s about why you kill someone rather than who you killed

True Grit is a 2010 American Western film written and directed by the Coen brothers. It is the second adaptation of Charles Portis‘ 1968 novel of the same name, which was previously adapted for film in 1969 starring John Wayne. The film stars Jeff Bridges as U.S. Marshal Reuben J. “Rooster” Cogburn along with Matt Damon and Josh Brolin.

Did It Suck? True Grit may be the best movie of 2010, and is certainly the best Western in many years. The script was nothing short of brilliance.

Jeff Bridges gave the performance of his career in what could have easily unwound into a ridiculous stereotype performance.

The first thing you notice about this film is that the Coen’s set out to make it something deeper than a bunch of gunfights tied together by some throw-away dialog. We expect this of Western’s, so it’s a bit of a shock at first. You are inclined to tune out the courtroom scene at the beginning, thinking that it’s filler. Instead, you are delivered stunning dialog that provides some incredible insight into the key character of Rooster Cogburn.

Matt Damon’s performance was surprisingly fresh. You forget all about Jason Bourne from the very first scene. He plays an awkward, yet proud and enthusiastic Texas ranger who is a little more naive than his years should suggest. You feel like you grow a little wiser as his character does the same on the screen ahead.

The young actress Hailee Steinfeld was 13 when she acted her 14 year old character (rather than the typical 22 year old playing 14). Her performance was stunning. She plays a believably smart young lady who outwits nearly everyone in her path. I haven’t been as pleasantly surprised by acting brilliance like this from a young prodigy since Haley Joel Osment in Sixth Sense or Dakota Fanning in everything (up until those ridiculous genre-crushing vampire movies that must not be named).

This is not the True Grit of another generation, it stands alone, and will perhaps be remembered as one of the greatest Westerns ever made and definitely Worth a Ticket.

Revenge is a serious matter in the hands of a fearless man

Faster is a 2010 American action film directed by George Tillman, Jr. and written by brothers Tony Gayton and Joe Gayton.
Did It Suck? For anyone looking for a plain old, easy to follow action flick, Faster has it covered. Nothing exciting or extra ordinary in this film, just some hard hitting action with a simple story that keeps you entertained right to the end. The only thing I can really complain about in this movie is the typical “knew that was going to happen’ ending. Otherwise a good action flick. Though this movie delivered what it was supposed to, and I felt I got my monies worth, the Big Screen is not needed to enjoy this one. Wait For a The DVD unless your hard up for some action and need a fix.

There’s a man on a mission and nothing is going to stop him

The Next Three Days is a 2010 thriller film directed by Paul Haggis and starring Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks. It was filmed on location inPittsburgh. It is a remake of the 2007 French film Pour Elle (Anything for Her) by Fred Cavayé. Lara Brennan (Banks) is accused of murdering her boss after an altercation at work. Her college professor husband John Brennan (Crowe) becomes obsessed with the idea of breaking her out of jail. [more here]

Did It Suck? What we have here is a very good story that builds and builds and explodes into a suspenseful ending. A slow movie but well rounded and thought out. Other then a few short comings, and some confusing scenes, this was an enjoyable movie. There’s not a lot to say about this movie because the whole plot is self explanatory. This film, other than being a really good drama and a good suspenseful build-up at the end where things start to roll, it’s a Wait For The DVD movie.

Did It Suck Review 4 Stars Time: 1hr 38min Rated: PG‎‎

How do you stop a run-away missile when the drivers seat is empty?

Plot: Unstoppable is a 2010 Thriller from Tony Scott and starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine. It is loosely based on a true story about a runaway train in 2001, although the real story is far less dramatic than the movie; but, that is why we have movies. [Read about the true story here]

Did It Suck? The entire movie is very much about the one, unstoppable, train but it has human interest stories as well that don’t detract in any way from the action and there are really no slow parts. The story is pretty simplistic, the train is running away and needs to be stopped, and the plot basically follows the various attempts to achieve this. I really liked the acting in this one, everyone really came across just as if they were employees of the railway, desperate to stop the train, and this really makes you connect more to them and want to cheer them along.

The action was great, with requisite crashes thrown in. However, you would absolutely have to suspend belief for some of the scenes which I found hard to do (as I used to drive trains so know more than your average moviegoer). However, it was still a thrill ride and no matter how believable it may be it was extremely enjoyable, and even if you don’t especially like trains I think you’d enjoy this. Definitely Worth A Ticket.
