Did It Suck Review: 3 Stars Time: 2hr 2min‎‎ Rated: PG

There’s a man on a mission and nothing is going to stop him

The Next Three Days is a 2010 thriller film directed by Paul Haggis and starring Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks. It was filmed on location inPittsburgh. It is a remake of the 2007 French film Pour Elle (Anything for Her) by Fred Cavayé. Lara Brennan (Banks) is accused of murdering her boss after an altercation at work. Her college professor husband John Brennan (Crowe) becomes obsessed with the idea of breaking her out of jail. [more here]

Did It Suck? What we have here is a very good story that builds and builds and explodes into a suspenseful ending. A slow movie but well rounded and thought out. Other then a few short comings, and some confusing scenes, this was an enjoyable movie. There’s not a lot to say about this movie because the whole plot is self explanatory. This film, other than being a really good drama and a good suspenseful build-up at the end where things start to roll, it’s a Wait For The DVD movie.

Review: 3.5 Stars Rated: PG

Based on best selling novelist Nicholas Sparks’ A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, and now the latest novel The Last Song is brought to the big screen and directed by Julie Anne Robinson

Plot: Set in a small Southern beach town where an estranged father (Greg Kinnear) gets a chance to spend the summer with his reluctant teenaged daughter (Miley Cyrus), who’d rather be home in New York. Her dad tries to reconnect with her through the only thing they have in common, music.

Did It Suck? If you liked any of the movies based on the books by the same author then you’ll most definitely enjoy The Last Song.

Going into the theatre knowing the type of movie it was, and having read the book, I was not disappointed. Miley Cyrus was a great choice for this roll as she suited her character well, making it believable, and she seems able to move forward from the “Hannah Montana” star we know from the past.

The story line differed from the book in some areas, but made little impact with the few changes. I really applaud the character development and was pleasantly suprised with the caliber of acting for a fairly low budget feature film. All in all, it was a warm hearted, tear jerker, tacky love story that kept true to the story line.

Final verdict .. Although most of the critics are rating this film very low It’s still worth a girls night out, however, if you’re on your own it’s better watched at home! Mostly Worth a Ticket.

Review: 3 Stars Rated: PG-13

Ahhh, love is in the air, especially on Valentine’s Day where a bouquet of lovely film stars, hand picked, washed, and well dressed, can frolic around in this romantic comedy. Director Garry Marshall known for comedies and love stories gives us his look into Valentine’s Day.

Break-down: Love, romance, and heartbreak are all a part of this story that focuses on several people and their lives over the course of Valentine’s Day.

This movie has a big cast Including Julia Roberts, Ashton Kutcher, and Jamie Foxx but is, unfortunately a big let-down. This is not to say that I didn’t smile or laugh when watching Valentines Day, but it was far from any real comedy. In fact I’m not exactly sure what the main agenda was, or what the story was trying to bring to the audience. Take out the Valentine’s theme and the movie was really just a big Moorpark.

I liked the idea of this movie, following the different people around, it wasn’t hard to follow and worked well. However, it jumped around so much that you didn’t get to know the characters well enough to feel anything for them. No doubt it will be a good renter so Wait For The DVD.

Review: 2 Stars Rated: PG-13

Best-selling author Nicholas Sparks and director Lasse Hallström, who is better known for music videos, bring this love story to the big screen

Plot: on leave, John Tyree, a young soldier, meets a girl named Savannah on Spring break and they fall in love. John’s military career takes him away on many dangerous postings and the two love birds are only able to see each other sporadically. The two keep in touch by writing passionate letters to each other.

Dear John: The Notebook it is not. This film is an attempt to pull at your heart strings where the chemistry of the characters in the Notebook left you needing more. Unfortunately it fails. It leaves you feeling cold and confused, and was extremely typical. This movie also became overly sugar coated quickly so you’re better off to Wait for the DVD, it will make a suitable breakup movie to watch with your girlfriends !!!

Rock-out to some Irish music and drink the beer, walk along the old country roads and checkout a castle. Dance a little, crash a wedding and eat yourself a good’ol hang sandwich. All this in a little love story called Leap Year

Anna Brady (Amy Adams) is on her way to propose to her boyfriend of 4 years. An old Irish Tradition or Folklore, allows a woman to propose on Leapday; this is what Amy plans to do, but…… Due to stormy weather Amy is forced off her schedule into an uncharted adventure with a man she pays to get to her destination, Declan O’Callaghan, played by Matthew Goode.

Watching this movie made me want to go on a vacation with all the beautiful scenery and landscapes shown. This is truly a romantic movie and never deviates away from its romantic grounds. It has some good funny and even sad moments. What I really liked about this film is how inviting and simple it is, yet it could still draw your emotions in with the characters. This is definitely a date movie and Worth a Ticket for that night out, but Wait For The DVD if you are a cheap date.

The ex-wife is having an affair with her ex-husband who had the original affair when they were together, but, he is now cheating on his new wife with his ex-wife who is now ‘the other woman’, It’s Complicated.
In a world of complicated relationships we take a look at a ‘what if’ story between two ex’s that have been apart for 10 years and then find each other again. Things look good for the two ex’s until reality creeps in.

I had a good time watching this movie and the crowed seemed to enjoy it too. I especially enjoyed the rolls of Steve Martin and John Krasinski. I think most people will find this movie entertaining and worth a few good laughs, but Wait For The DVD.

Review: 4 Stars Rated: R

Up In The Air is a character fueled film with George Clooney leading the way. Canadian film director Jason Reitman seems to fly this one home with very little turbulence from critics. Supporting cast members included: Jason Bateman, Vera Farmiga, and Anna Kendrick.

Ryan Bingham (Clooney) flies the globe as a hired terminator, in a matter of speaking, his job is to fire people in the most decent way possible. Ryan lives his job in somewhat of a religious fashion and loves his self isolation with nothing to weigh him down. As the story progresses Ryan starts to come out of his isolated life, relationships and family events are things that he has always avoided until he meets a woman that completely captures him, Alex. He then finds himself inviting Alex, (Vera Farmiga), to his sisters wedding. In the midst of all this, Ryan’s company is making changes in the way they operate, leaving him grounded and more-so with a chip on his shoulder about the new change.

Clooney plays his roll exceptionally well and at the same time is perfect for the character. As much as I enjoyed this film, even with all the critics raving about it, it doesn’t meet up to the Did It Suck standers and quite frankly was a little long winded. Wait For The DVD, but only if theres nothing else to rent.

Review: 3.5 Stars

Can’t quite put my finger on why i liked this film so much, it’s a cute and quirky boy meets girl movie that jumps back and forth in a 500 day timeline, yet is easy to follow.

After boy meets girl, the story takes on a rather different love story, or non-love story for at least one party. It’s a slow movie with a good pace that kept my interest as the story unfolds.

All in all, a good movie, but I’m leaning on… ‘Better as a renter‘.
