Nightmare on Elm Street

Review:     3 Stars     Rated:     R

Let the Nightmares begin, again, Freddy’s back in an all new remake of the original 1984 horror classic film.  Jackie Earle Haley plays Freddy Krueger, a villain that hunts you in your dreams.

Plot: A group of  teenagers share a common problem; they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another, but, there is no escape from there nightmare killer if they fall asleep, and we all know you have to sleep eventually.

Did It Suck? As far as the acting goes in this movie, it’s quite good, and Jackie was an excellent pick to play the part of Freddy.  The special effects during the dream sequences were not bad and got the job done.  Not much of a scary movie as far as I expected this movie to be.  Some good gore moments but highly predictable and  boring, I might have jumped once.  I’m thinking this film should have been labeled a drama with frightening scenes and gore.  It was interesting to get a little better perspective into the background of our nightmare stalking foe, but this movie falls short.  It’s still worth a watch but only because it’s Freddy, save your money and Wait For The DVD.
