Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief
Review: 2.5 Stars Rated: PG
Unlike a Greek salad; there’s some good fun in store in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief . A mythological adventure awaits in this story of young Percy Jackson, born 1/2 human, and 1/2 god. This movie is based off a book series by Rick Riordan.
Plot: (Logan Lerman) is not just your average teen going through rough times, he’s got bigger problems. Born the son of Poseidon Jackson has been blamed for steeling Zeus‘s Bolt. Zeus wants his toy back and if he doesn’t get it soon its going to be trouble for earth.
This movie was OK, not that great and not that bad. A good supporting cast, but not a lot of action in this film. It was manly driven by the story of three friends venturing off on their quest. It has a few good laughs and even better special effects. I’m quite confident it will be popular with the teens but unfortunately this movie didn’t have enough to warrant money well spent, and book readers will probably be disappointed as well, Wait For The DVD.

I used to watch all the Hercules movies when I was a kid, but I may have out-grown them. I said, I MAY have outgrown them! LOL I will wait for the DVD anyway for this.

This movie is terrible. There’s hardly similarity. The books are amazing. It wouldn’t be hard to convert the book to movie without destroying it. We all know Chris Columbus is capable (harry potter and the sorcerers stone anyone?) Hades is not a bad guy, the never meet Persephone. Where is thalias tree? Why is Grover black and have no horns and mentions nothing of pan? Where is Mr d? Why is the hydra showing up in this movie? No Clarisse? No Ares? Percy is like 17? The cabins all look the same, annabeth never fights Percy in capture the flag, and the furies never show up…um this movie blows. So glad I didn’t pay for it.
I read the books. and stupidly went to the movie. oh my gods it was horrible. I hated it. What annoyed me even more was my friend who made me go hadn’t read the books. So she got all pissy when I yelled at the screen that anaabeth IS NOT blond. Percy Is not 17…. Grover IS NOT black. and where the heck were clairsse, ares, the oracle.. a MR D!!! you cannot have cmap half blood without Mr D.
I read the books, and then watched the movie. And you are right, I am very disappointed. They changed so many things, and left people out…
good to know that I’m not losing out by waiting for the DVD…
